Ok people, let’s move on to the Animal Kingdom.
Arriving at the gates is a breeze without the need for trams. First, you’ll encounter temperature checks, bag checks, microphone checks, and mask checks. Just kidding about the microphone checks, of course! The improved process features walk-through metal detectors, so you no longer need to remove your belongings for inspection.
Similar to airport procedures, you’ll place your items—keys, phone, change, and any other metal objects—in a tray on a conveyor belt. Should there be any uncertainty, an officer on the other side of the metal detector will use a hand-held scanner to review you further.
It’s scorching! The Florida heat gets trapped between all the trees, but they do provide nice shade, especially at Pandora. Make sure to stop there for a quick rest while deciding if you want to brave the 85-minute wait for the ride. Animal Kingdom is the hottest park, second only to Magic Kingdom. Pack plenty of water bottles; freeze them the night before and bring them along. You’ll be glad you did! Water costs over $3 a bottle.
